Information Logistics to participate in the FCC's Distracted Driving Technology Showcase on Friday, April 19, 2013.

The FCC Showcase is meant to "demonstrate new technologies, answer questions and provide consumer information on the dangers of texting while driving and other distracted driving behaviors."

The FCC press release notes that "The statistics on distracted driving and texting while driving are sobering:

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported that in 2010 driver distraction was the cause of 18 percent of all fatal
crashes - with 3,092 people killed - and crashes resulting in an injury to more than 416,000 people.

The Virginia Tech Transportation Institute found that text messaging creates a crash risk 23 times worse than driving while not distracted."

Information Logistics will demonstrate their GeoTalker platform which serves as the engine for mobile applications that can deliver information to drivers "hands-free and eyes-free". There are currently GeoTalker mobile apps available from Transportation agencies in several states, including Pennsylvania, New Jersey, West Virginia, Louisiana and even from the Highways Agency in England. This symposium is free and open to the public. We hope you will come to the symposium to learn more about addressing distracted driving, and please stop to talk with us about our GeoTalker platform.
